Google Sans Evolution

In other proprietary type news, the Google Design team shares the evolution of their own typeface, Google Sans, which rolled out in 2018 as it replaced the previous house font, Product Sans. Google Sans begat Google Sans Text in 2020 and Google Sans Code in 2025, along with support for dozens of non-Latin alphabets in between. The latest, Google Sans Flex, was recently released as an open-source type family with variable axes for weight, width, optical size, slant, and rounded terminals.
