Rex and the City

As part of the MTA’s ongoing Vacant Unit Activation Program, which aims to fill vacant former retail units in New York’s subway system with creative non-traditional uses, Sarah Cassidy and Akiva Leffert have set up “Rex’s Dino Store” at the Grand Army Plaza station in Brooklyn, NY. Featuring a hand-crafted 7-foot tall papier-mâché orange dinosaur, the newsstand-slash-bodega has all the necessities a modern-day dinosaur would need, from Snarlboros to Meteoritos to The Maul Street Journal, all rendered as charming props that satirize mainstream consumer products. I hope they have White Claw in that fridge.
