2025Subway, Ride Fresh
Not a logo, not an identity, not even a brand per se but one of the most iconic manifestations of New York City — its subway map — has been redesigned for the first time since 1979. The new map, designed by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Creative Services Mapping Department, is now better aligned (pun intended) with other major subway maps around the world with its diagrammatic style that more closely resembles the much beloved (and missed) 1972 Vignelli map.
