Tassie Senators Lock Horns

In Tasmania, a couple of politicians are in a logo battle as the Jacqui Lambie Network — a political party in Australia, formed in May 2015, bearing the name of its founder, Jacqui Lambie, a current Senator for Tasmania since 2019 — has opposed the registration with the Australian Electoral Commission of the logo for Tammy Tyrrell for Tasmania, claiming the latter’s logo can easily be confused for the former’s. Tammy Tyrrell — who was previously a member of the Jacqui Lambie Network and in September left the party to start her own — responded with a comprehensive 19-page document on why the claim is unsubstantiated given that other political party logos also use the geographical shape in their logo and that the two logos have significantly different typography.
