1925Medal
This medal was struck for the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Art: the exhibition that gave its name to Art Deco. Pierre Turin's medal is itself an example of the style which the exhibition popularised; a style that was at once modern [in its abandonment of the sinuous lines of Art Nouveau] and unashamedly decorative [unlike true Modernism].
Medal · Paris · 1925. Struck metal (copper alloy). By Turin, Pierre. Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
