1932Grapes
Duncan Grant (1885-1978) designed this printed linen furnishing fabric entitled 'Grapes' for Allan Walton textiles in 1932. It was used for the upholstery and drapery of a music room designed by Grant and Vanessa Bell. This was on display in the Lefevre Gallery showroom in London. Allan Walton Textiles commissioned some of the most enterprising artist-designed screen-printed fabrics of the 1930s. Allan Walton, who trained as an architect and painter before founding the firm, was also director of Glasgow School of Art from 1943 to 1945.
