Matelot

This dress fabric called ‘Matelot’ was manufactured by the Calico Printers’ Association in 1934. The dynamic sailor and seagull motifs and striking colouring are similar to post-Revolutionary Soviet ‘thematic’ designs. These promoted approved work and sporting activities.
