Art Deco Weekend is held in Napier, New Zealand to Commemorate the Napier Earthquake, a magnitude 7.8 earthqauke on the richter scale, which occured on the 3rd February 1931. It commemorates and celebrates the rebuilding of the city in the Art Deco style which is still seen around the city. The weekend itself has a varitey of services, tours and attractions and the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) has quite a strong presence during the weekend, as it did after the 1931 earthquake.
