The former High Hopes Club House, 2971 Bailey Avenue at Phyllis Avenue, Buffalo, New York, November 2020. Subtle but unmistakable Art Deco ornamentation adorns the façade of this two-story buff brick edifice dating to c. 1930: ground-floor shop windows interspersed by fluted pilasters with stylized capitals of triangular- and diamond-shaped geometric ornamentation, then still more fluting framing the front entrance and on the architrave above, with fleur-de-lys ornamentation. The building served originally as a branch office for the Iroquois Gas Company (predecessor to modern-day National Fuel), where bills could be paid or new service initiated.
