Some unconventional approaches this week, with work from Los Angeles/Denver, Dallas, and Toronto. Moxie Coffee Co. by The Made Shop Moxie Coffee Co. is a coffee shop and specialty coffee roaster in Phoenix, AZ. The identity, designed by Los Angeles, CA- and Denver, CO-based The Made Shop, features an unexpected icon: a broken coffee cup. Embracing the wabi-sabi philosophy and describing it as “Bold and broken, the icon shows some moxie through restraint and vulnerability”, the icon is unique and memorable with the broken lines transforming the cup from a mundane object that would be a cliché if used like a regular cup into something more visually striking and with an untold story behind it. Both the high-contrast serif and the monospace supporting typeface are a little on the t
