Plenty of flat colors and graphics this week, with work from Beijing, Melbourne, and Recife. Guardian Art Book Fair 2023 by Mint Design Lab Now in its second year, the Guardian Art Book Fair takes place at the Guardian Art Center in Beijing, China, displaying over 10,000 books distributed by more than 40 publishing houses at home and abroad. The identity, designed by local firm Mint Design Lab, plays with the dimensionality of an open book’s cover, back cover, and spine to create a flat geometric composition that then serves as the backdrop to an abstract face as eyes are playfully placed on top. The explanation at the project link about it is a little overwrought and I think this is very enjoyable on a much more basic level in that we simply see books with our eyes. The combination
