A fun combination of clients, typography, and illustration this week, with work from Guadalajara, Milan, and Nicosia. Velvet by Estudio Cariño Velvet is a gelato shop in Los Angeles, CA, that offers a selection of velvety-textured and relatively eccentric flavors — eggnog! Nutella cereal! Biscoff Cookie butter! — to enjoy at their small location or take to go in pints. The identity, designed by Guadalajara, México-based Estudio Cariño, uses an unexpected source of inspiration — the 1987 Wim Wenders film, Wings of Desire that revolves around two angels in Berlin — which explains (although not that an explanation is needed) the two angels in urban garb that appear throughout the applications in a charming thin-line style. These are paired with a deliciously gooey wordmark that brings the nam
