2023Honey, I Pun’d the Kids
This story is from 2020 and I followed a clickbait Facebook post yesterday where I found it: Yohana Agurto, a former teacher in Chile who went unemployed during the COVID lockdown, began selling honey from her apartment and called it Miel Gibson and made a label with a picture of Mel Gibson in his character from Braveheart, which altogether is a visual and verbal pun that gives me so much envy. “Honey” in Spanish is “Miel”, which sounds like “Mel”. Eventually, Mel Gibson’s attorneys sent a cease and desist, letting Yohana keep the name but lose the image. The label now looks like this but I’m sure all the publicity (and ensuing sales) made up for the loss of such an epic pun.
