It's Only a Matter of Time

Reviewed on Brand New in May of 2021, the icon for Matter — a protocol that allows any smart home object to operate with other objects, regardless of the manufacturing brand — was positioned as the next, well, iconic icon in the world of gizmos and gadgets, in the same vein as the Bluetooth or WiFi symbols. It seems its time is now, as Matter was very well represented at this year’s CES and is integrated into Apple’s new HomePod.
