New Logo and Identity for FOMU by Mutant
Established in 1986, FOMU (short for Fotomuseum) is a museum of photography in Antwerp, Belgium, considered to be one of the most prestigious and leading museums of its kind in Europe. The museum is housed in the “Pakhuis Vlaanderen” warehouse, which was built in 1911 and used to store glassware, cocoa, cotton oil, coconut oil, hair, corn oil, nutmeg, and where later a machine room and a banana ripening facility were set up, none of which is germane to the story but banana ripening is not an activity I was going to pass up on writing about. More relevant, the warehouse has undergone multiple renovations-slash-expansions to accommodate the growing collection of photo images, equipment, and photo books that now number close to 3 million objects as well as for building its own auditorium.
