New Logo and Packaging for Du Nord Social Spirits by Werner Design Werks
Established in 2013, Du Nord Social Spirits (Du Nord Craft Spirits back then) is the first Black-owned, fully-licensed production distillery in America. Located in Minneapolis, MN, it was co-founded by Chris and Shanelle Montana with a $60,000 community foundation grant and corn from Shanelle’s parents’ farm, slowly growing its audience, distribution, and reputation with Chris eventually serving as president of the American Craft Spirits Association. Like many businesses, it had to close its doors due to the pandemic, but to add difficulty to that period, the distillery was literally caught in the protests, riots, and fires surrounding the George Floyd case as its warehouse was burned during those demonstrations. As part of their own recovery and looking to help their neighbors
