Launched in 1959, Mirinda — which very oddly has no website but does exist in various localized Instagram accounts like Romania, Mexico, or Thailand — is a brand of soft drink originally created in Spain. The name comes from the Esperanto translation of “admirable” or “amazing” and the orange-flavored soda was very popular in its country — even promoted by one of their most popular cartoon characters (and one my personal childhood favorites) Mortadelo y Filemón — until the late 1980s – 90s where it stopped being produced and sold after PepsiCo had acquired the brand in 1970 and taking it globally.
