2021Plain Packaging Plainly Effective
In Australia, the center for behavioral research at the Cancer Council of Victoria, determined that the “plain packaging” legislation on cigarettes “accounted for about a quarter of the total decline in smoking prevalence in [the] three years” since it began being enforced in 2012 forcing, among other things, cigarette brands to be able to only use the drab Pantone 448C for their packaging. The longer article goes into other factors that played a role but its main purpose is to look back at the effect of the packaging law. Actual packaging not shown because it’s not pleasant to look at.
