2025Den-marks the Spot
Redesigned for only the fourth time since 1819, Denmark has introduced a new rendition of its coat of arms that now features a more prominent polar bear and ram to represent Greenland and the Faroe Islands respectively as a signal of the kingdom’s commitment to those two territories. While the media has been touting this as the King of Denmark trolling Donald Trump and his recently expressed desire to make Greenland a part of the U.S., the redesign was actually first commissioned in January of 2024 so the timing is (perhaps) mostly coincidence.
