Plenty of patterns and cool production techniques in this week’s selection with work from Austin, Mérida, and Singapore. Chavez by FÖDA Nestled inside the Radisson hotel in downtown Austin, TX, Chavez is a Mexican restaurant that welcomes you through a hallway featuring a Mezo-American motif made out of the six letters in the restaurant’s name, each in six weights, creating a wonderful texture that then reappears throughout the rest of the materials and space. Designed by local firm FÖDA, the abstract CHAVEZ glyphs are arranged in blocks and circles, it’s printed on menus and business cards, and it’s etched on tabletops and lit from underneath. It’s groovy and hypnotic and manages to convey “Interior Mexican” quite deliciously. See
