An earthy — in literal and metaphorical ways — collection of projects this week, with work from Melbourne, Stockholm, and Santander. Rocc by Date of Birth Rocc is a new brand of all-natural toothpaste, packed with minerals and vitamins and sold in a biodegradable tube, available in Australia. The identity, designed by Melbourne, Australia-based Date of Birth, rocks a super fun wordmark that defies categorization but if I had to give it a try I would say it’s a minimalist 1970s funky sans serif. I love the circular counterspaces in “OCC” — which makes me wonder if they tried to make the “R” have one too at some point — and the stretchy tallness of the letters. A big part of what makes this work is the really nice green and matte finish of the tubes that serve as the perfec
