A couple of crazy, wacky, packaging projects accompanied by a demure one this week, with work from Murcia, Los Angeles, and Rotterdam. Weirdo by MABA Patatas Rubio is a Spanish producer of potato chips that has been in business since 1965 offering, for the most part, traditional potato chips but earlier this year, it introduced Weirdo, a range of five flavors packing a stronger punch and a very different design than the rest of its potato chip family. The packaging, designed by Murcia, Spain-based MABA, does justice to the name with an entourage of plump, vinyl-esque 3D characters with sass to spare as they strut their stuff across an imaginary catwalk (the starbursts are meant to be camera flashes).
