With Roman numerals already being an outlier in the visual lexicon of most of the NFL’s audience, the previous five Super Bowl logos made things more confusing with the rendering of the trophy looking like an extra “I” (or extra year). It was particularly confusing last year, with Super Bowl LV (55) reading like LIV (54). Super Bowl LVI (56) tackles that issue head on and sets up a winning strategy for LVII and LVIII giving designers a break until LIX.
