Brand
2025Looking like One too Many Snacks
Mondelēz International, one of the world’s largest snacks companies, has filed a lawsuit against Aldi, the discount supermarket chain with over 12,000 stores in 18 countries, over the similarities between the latter’s discount offerings and the former’s mainstream brands and argues that Aldi is not just clearly infringing on their trade dress but also looking to capitalize on the brand awareness of Mondelez’s products. From my experience in Aldi, ALL of their products look like more well-known products and I assumed all mainstream brands just rolled their eyes at it but I guess these ones were just too close for comfort for Mondelez. Rightly so, even if it pains me to side with a corporate giant. Full lawsuit here.
