A Fork in the Road
Starting in 2021, Grubhub, an American online and mobile prepared food ordering and delivery platform, and Kroger, the biggest grocer in the United States by revenue, have been at it in the courts ever since Grubhub was acquired by Dutch company Just Eat Takeaway, which has applied its own logo to all of its subsidiaries around the world. The crux of the matter is the fork-and-knife-inside-a-house icon that Just Eat Takeaway introduced in 2020 conflicting with the graphic in Kroger’s own subsidiary, Home Chef, which launched in 2013 and was then acquired by Kroger in 2018, giving Home Chef’s logo a chronological advantage.
