From humble beginnings in 2014 in Austin, TX, originally as “Must B Nutty”, offering almond flour-based tortillas, Siete, as it was renamed in 2015, was acquired earlier this month by PepsiCo for $1.2 billion. This would be a massive deal for any product but is especially significant for this small, family-owned, Mexican-American business that has grown to offer grain free tortillas, enchilada sauces, taco seasonings, botana sauces, mexican cookies, vegan beans, grain free puffs, and salsas available across 40,000 retailers. This begs the question: Had they remained with their original name and design would they have achieved the same success?
