(Est. 1965 but dating back to 1598) “Borde Hill is a Grade II* listed English Heritage Garden set within 200 acres of woodland and parkland, with magnificent views across the Ouse Valley viaduct. Described as ‘one of the country’s truly great gardens’ by Country Life, Borde Hill was created by Colonel Stephenson Robert Clarke from seeds gathered by the Great Plant Hunters of the early 1900’s. The Garden is renowned for its impressive collection of rare trees, shrubs and plants, and is the ‘mother’ home of many notable hybrid plants including Camellia williamsii ‘Donation’ and Alstroemeria ‘Walter Fleming’.
