Established in 2013, League Championship Series (LCS) is the top level, professional league of League of Legends in the United States and Canada. Run by Riot Games — which also partly runs, among 14 other leagues, the LCK, covered recently here on Brand New — LCS is comprised of ten teams that compete in an annual season divided into two splits, spring and summer, which conclude with a double-elimination tournament between the top eight teams — the tournament’s finals can attract more viewers than the Super Bowl — with the top winners of the summer season advancing to the League of Legends World Championship.
