Mission Brewing (formerly Mission Brewery) is a San Diego, CA-based craft brewery with an incredible historic legacy. Originally founded in 1913 by German businessmen who saw an opportunity to capitalize on an exploding lager market, the brewery was established in a building designed in the Mission Revival style by Chicago architect Richard Greisser. Unfortunately, the brewery was forced to shut down five years later due to the impending threat of Prohibition but while many residents occupied the building over time — including an isolation hospital during the 1918 influenza pandemic — the Mission brand name was preserved for nearly 90 years.
