2022NFL goes Hispañic
To celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, the NFL has introduced a logo for the occasion that features a tilde over the “N” in its shield, transforming it into an “Ñ” (eñe or, phonetically, enye), a letter commonly used in Spanish. The problem is there is no “Ñ” anywhere in “NFL” or “National Football League” when translated to Spanish and, as a Hispanic myself, I have never considered the eñe to be something unmistakable about us. CNN did something similar back in 2010 for its CNN en Español channel but at least that had “Español” in the name, which did have an eñe in it.
