2022Out of the Blue…tooth
I was today years old when I learned Bluetooth is named after the nickname of the tenth-century, second King of Denmark, King Harald “Bluetooth” Gormsson. It was originally used as the project’s codename — created by two engineers working separately at Intel and Ericsson — while an official name was conceived but the one option, PAN, was not going to clear the trademarking process so the codename stuck. The full story is pretty fun.
