A good serving of playful typography in three distinct flavors this week, with projects from Mexico City, Austin, and Lima. Oop by Futura Oop is an ice cream shop based in Qatar. (No website or social media available but it does exist in a restaurant delivery website.) The identity, designed by Mexico City, Mexico-based Futura, takes a cue from the gooey, melty essence of ice cream to create a gooey, melty logo where the three letters ooze into each other with a thick, creamy finish. The result could have been pretty corny but the funky “p” shape takes it to the next level. In application, the “o” can repeat as many times as desired for an even more playful effect.
