A packaging trio in widely different styles this week, with work from Bogota, Istanbul, and Boulder. Amargo by Crudo Amargo is a brand of cold brew available in Colombia — the name translates from Spanish as “Bitter”. The packaging, designed by Bogota, Colombia-based Crudo, revolves around a single element, the wordmark, which is typeset in a typeface I couldn’t identify so perhaps it’s not even a typeface or one that is a little modified but the point is that VJ Type’s Cako and it’s a stunning wordmark with that crazy cool “g”. The high contrast in its thicks and thins is also somehow very appropriate for the name, as there is a kind of visual acidity to the letterforms with the contrasts, the sharp angles of the serifs, and the pronounced angled flair on the “a”.
