New Logo and Packaging for Squirrel Brand by Straight Forward Design

Established in 1888, Squirrel Brand is one of the oldest nut brands in the United States. Founded in Roxbury, Massachusetts, the company began by selling its mixed nut varieties from store to store throughout the Boston area by means of horse and wagon. In the earlier days it also produced and sold peanut bars and nut-based caramels, candies, and chews — its “Nut Zippers”, a vanilla nut caramel introduced in 1926, remained popular for decades. In 1999, Southern Style Nuts acquired Squirrel Brand Company, which in turn gave then-giant candy manufacturer, Necco, a license to manufacture the Nut Zippers. In 2017 John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. — which was founded in 1922 as a pecan shelling company and now owns multiple nut brands — acquired Squirrel Brand and is now overseeing
