2025What’s Up, Duck?
TIL that in the year 2000, a time before Brand New existed because otherwise there would have been a 200-comment post, Cadillac’s logo redesign left on the side of the road the six ducks that accompanied the car’s shield since its origin in 1902. As I also learned today, the ducks aren’t ducks but merles, a common blackbird, that were part of the coat of arms of Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, who founded Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit (now Detroit) in 1701 and after whom the car brand is named. I’ll also admit that, until today, I had never realized there had been ducks in Cadillac’s old logos. (Photo by Nicholas Lucien)
